Understated Yet Dramatic1958 Cadillac Eldorado™ BiarritzCan Chrome Be Understated?Compared to the 1957 and especially 1959 Eldorado Biarritz the 1958 model had modest fins. The rear fins were not integrated into the fender design. The front ones were so small they almost weren’t fins at all. But what it lacked in fins it more than made up with chrome. The massive front grille…the 10 vertical louvers near the rear wheel…molding under the door and fenders…even the top of the rear fins this Cadillac absolutely gleamed with chrome. Harley Earl and his staff’s goal were to produce understated yet dramatic luxury cars. They certainly had the luxury and dramatic part down pat but understated who’s to say.
